Auto / Steel Partnership (A/SP)
Mike Davenport is the Executive Director of the Auto / Steel Partnership. A/SP leverages resources from the automotive and steel industries to pursue research, validation and education that help automakers enhance vehicle safety, fuel economy, environmental sustainability and cost.
Prior to the Auto/Steel Partnership, Mike spend 5 years as the Director of Product Application Engineering at United States Steel Corporation. He was responsible for developing technical solutions to automotive applications utilizing advanced high strength steels. Mike has also spent 20 years with Chrysler Corporation including managing the Body-in-White department for upperbody structures, supporting the design, development and vehicle launch phases.
Mike has been a champion for lightweight design solutions throughout his career. He has a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering degree from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Science Mechanical Engineering degree from Oakland University.
