Dr. Khaled Shahwan

Dr. Khaled Shahwan has been with FCA US LLC since 1999 and is currently the Technology Lead-Composites, Methods & Strategies, at the Global Innovation & Advanced Development Engineering organization. Khaled served as the 2014 and 2017 Chairman of US-DOE's USDRIVE-MTT, and Chairman-Board of Directors of the Automotive Composites Consortium. In addition, Dr. Shahwan led numerous product and technology development activities pertaining to advanced materials and structures, computational methods, ADAS and autonomy systems.
Prior to joining FCA US LLC Dr. Shahwan worked at Ford's Scientific Research Lab and Advanced Vehicle Technology organizations.
Dr. Shahwan has been the auto industry's lead on technology and strategy roadmaps by USDRIVE/MTT, IACMI, NIST/CAIIAC, ACC/Plastics, DOE/VTO, & NHTSA. Khaled is a current member of the Technical Advisory Boards of CAR, Aero Depts. at Univ. of Washington and Univ. of Michigan, and a past member of IACMI's Technical Advisory Board. Dr. Shahwan is a member of the Editorial Boards of IJVS, IJVD, IJAutoC and JEM '04-'14, and is a member of ASME and an elected Associate Fellow of AIAA. Dr. Shahwan has 40 publications, and 60 industry-government collaboration reports.
Dr. Shahwan holds a PhD and MS in Aerospace Engineering, and MS in Civil/Structural Engineering, all from the University of Michigan, and a BS in Engineering from SFSU in California.
